Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is now known as the "Susan G. Komen for the Cure". It is also often referred to simply as Komen. It is considered to be the largest, most widely known and the best funded breast cancer organization in the United States.

The organization has invested about $2 billion in research of breast cancer, health services, support, education and advocacy programs. The reach of the organization runs far beyond Unites States and covers more than 50 countries worldwide. The health organization is also listed on the Charity Navigator and has obtained the highest 4 star rating that is possible. Based on the report from Harris Interactive 2010 EquiTrend annual brand equity poll, Komen was the most trusted of all nonprofit organizations in the United States.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women and Komen aims at reducing this burden of breast cancer at a global level. Some of the fundraising activities that the organization is involved in include cause marketing and specific events that are held each year. Among them are Susan G. Komen race for the Cure, Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure, Susan G. Komen Marathon for the Cure, Susan G. Komen Passionately Pink for the Cure and Susan G. Komen Bowl for the Cure. There is also a mobile donating campaign that the organization manages to make it easier for individual donors to give.

The organization has played a critical role in the major advances made in the area of breast cancer since its inception.
